My Computer Said No

I thought a contest

I would enter

That would put my name

Front and center

But alas and woe

When I did a word count

My computer said no

But my heart said yes

I knew I had written

Words that would leave

The reader smitten

My computer still said no

But my heart said yes

The world of the writer

Is not one of rules

That are easily read

In a vision my heart spoke

I stood at the water’s edge

Watching the waves fall

A sensuous lover

Embracing most boldly

The silent rocks

Who one day will speak

Thanking the sea

Who will weep

At the beauty of the moment

And I

I stood at the water’s edge

And let the sea talk to me

It told of love

It held my soul

I breathed

And the memory

Washed over me

Would this be blasphemy

Would the word count

Be called a false accumulation

I hoped not and traveled on

Shall we dance

Shall our fingers touch

Shall our hearts beat

Shall our minds meet

Shall we dance

Like the rain

Upon the window

Like a kiss

Upon the lips

Shall we dance

Till the morning sun

Touches our skin

Till the evening moon

Calls upon the stars

Shall we dance

Shall we tremble

At every move

Shall we leave the shore

And swim to sea

Shall we dance

There was a beginning

To their Love

It started

When her eyes met his

The rain dancing

All around their bodies

Their love was alive

In a ring of fire

Shall we dance

They walked on the waves

That touched at the shore

Where they danced

Dancing in the sand

The sun flying through her hair

The moon shining in her eyes

The waves crashing at her door

Dancing in the sand

A carnival of life

A holiday of dreams

Latin blood all astir

Dancing in the sand

Footprints chasing each other

To the rhythm of the sea

Washed clean to start again

Shall we dance

The wind stirs a tropical breeze

The palm trees wave to me

Eyes laughing

We dance in the sand

The dance of love

Again my computer said no

So for a walk

I did go

I went looking for a mermaid

I took my suntan lotion

It was at the seashore

Waves of illusion everywhere

I went looking for a mermaid

I took my suntan lotion

The edge of the sand

The tide as low as can be

She smiled and talked with me

Our feet within the sea

I am looking at a mermaid

I have my suntan lotion

On an island

That wasn’t there

She could be found

Only when the tide allows

I went looking for a mermaid

I took my suntan lotion

The sea shell to my ear

The mariachi band

Guided me to her

My home she said

I was looking at an angel

I had my suntan lotion

Wave after wave

The sand gives way

We float as we kiss

Her touch softer than soft

I went looking for a mermaid

I took my suntan lotion

We walk and the waves talk

Past islands that used to be

The Sun bakes the sand

The tide says we must part

I went looking for a mermaid

I took my suntan lotion

Mermaid Island disappears

Tomorrow I will look

Past Starfish Bay

On an island that isn’t there

I went looking for a mermaid

I took my suntan lotion

Home again

I counted the words

My computer said no

One vision from the soul

And you have reached the goal

Swirling amongst the echoes

Of cascading underground worlds

I descend upon a scene of brilliant light

And hear the humming of mighty windpipes

To see the solitary figure

Playing the ever-pulsing heartbeat of life

And one could tell

That all was well

With him

Cast under this moment

Of spell

For the sights he played

He played so true

That the colors in front of my eyes

Changed from yellow to blue

And through this vision of translucent hue

I saw the hummingbird

Making the whole dream true

As he danced his way from my heart to you

Yes you

To whom my story is sent among

Look deep into the words

And see a dream that is equal of you

Of songs that whisper

Memories of places long behind

And you

Who only want to love for equal in return

Must let your mind cast back awhile

To a man who played a style

That was

The whispering of the angels in the song

But how far it is we have traveled

From our piping stating place

For now the colors change

Through blue to red

And from the fires

Deep within the cavern low

The man is playing softly

To a song

That sets the heart aglow

With embers of emotions

Past but not forgotten

For with each note that is played

Another heart-breath is taken

And saved

But look

From between the shores

Comes the message of cold

As bolts of white light tingle my soul

As the winds of time leave me

I slide downwards

Into a legendary flow

Where the beauty of the snowbird

Shows icen worlds

Frozen beneath us all

But hold

Now a sound I do see

Of the gold the man is playing

In his song called destiny

As she winds her way around

The craggy crystals of life

And melts a world beside the sea

Where silently I float

Past the stars

Into the song

The man has played so long

Into this vacuous palace

Of sleeping heroes

Long rejoiced

And loved ones alive

But fading fast

Wither not

Oh flowers to truth's dream

For you who blossom

To show your beauty

Will be the singers of the song

So when the waves

And the wind

Do tune accord

Then you will see

The path walked by the Lord

With its curling cresting sighs

Tumbling at your sides

And looking down

Is but the mirror of Eternity

Whilst above

Shines all the love

To make any of this be
